ABSTRACT Two cases of anterior ischemic optic neuropathy followed
uncomplicated cataract extraction 4 weeks and 2 weeks respectively, were reported.
Both had poor vision after surgery. Physical examination showed edema and pale
disc, constricted visual field. Post-cataract-extraction anterior ischemic optic neuropathy is a serious ocular
complication, with a high chance of its development in the second eye after
a similar procedure. physicians should anticipate and prophylactic measure of
intraocular pressure in these high risk patients.
