Abstract A 2 10/12 year old girl with congenital rubella
had peculiar behavior was reported. She was born in a poor family and under
nourished. The strange maneuvers which she often did in waking hours were :
inverting herself upside down and popping her eyes, producing significant proptosis,
with her index fingers.
These maneuvers
were thought to be an exaggerate form of blindism which is commonly seen in
partial sight children, especially in rubella syndrome. Besides rubella ophthalmopathy
and amblyopia, her bizarre behavior may damage optic nerve and result in poor
visual outcome. |
