Normal Visual Acuity Development

ABSTRACT We tested the visual acuity in children 2 months to 6 years of age from the new born clinic, Pediatric out patient department, Ramathibodi Hospital during June to December 1990.

There are totally 200 children, 102 boys and 98 girls. Children under 2 years old, the Catford instrument was used and those over 2 years old, E game or Snellen visual chart was used. The result was portrayed as a graph indicated rapid visual development during 3-12 months of age and most children have visual acuity of 20/40 at the age of 12 months.
