ABSTRACT  Twenty cadaver eyes were measured for the distance from surgical limbus to each rectus muscle insertion, posterior border of cilliary process and ora serrata.

The average distance from limbus to the center of each rectus muscle is 7.102 mm.for the superior rectus, 6.787 mm. for the lateral rectus, 6.605 mm. for the inferior rectus and 5.605 mm. for the medial rectus. The average distance from limbus to posterior border of cilliry processes and ora serrata in each quadrant are 2.825mm. and 7.02 mm. for the superotemporal axis, 2.79 mm. and 7.037 mm. for the inferotemporal axis, 2.697 mm. and 6.60 mm. for the superonasal axis, 2.72 mm. and 6.592 mm. for the inferonasal axis respectively.
