Mucormycosis : A Report of Two Cases

ABSTRACT Two
cases of cerebro rhino orbital mucormycosis were reported.
The underlying disease of both were diabetes mellitus and the first one
developed diabetic ketoacidosis. They were treated with systemic amphotericin
B (1 mg./kg./day), maxillectomy, sphenoidectomy, ethimoidectomy and orbital
exenteration with additional irrigation and packing with amphotericin B
(1 mg./ ml.) and palatectomy in the second one. Tissue cultures from both
of them yielded rhizopus spp. Later on they deteriorated and died.
