Prominent Corneal Nerves in Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type IIb

ABSTRACT A case report of multiple endocrine neoplasia type IIb (MEN IIb) presented with sporadic pattern, large neck mass and chronic diarrhea. He is characterized by the occurrence of dysmorphic facial fetures, Mafanoid habitus, bilateral thyroid glands enlargement, left cervical lymphadenopathy and diffuse thickening of the mucosal fold of the whole small bowel.

The ocular abnormalities are prominent corneal nerves, increased intraocular pressure and decreases tear formation. He was treated with total thyroidectomy and lower lip biopsy which tissue sections revealed medullary thyroid carcinomas (MTC) and mucosal neuromas. The ocular tension was treated with topical beta-blocker. The 5th month postoperative period, diarrhea disappeared.
