ABSTRACT: The
term flecked retina disease (FRD) has been used to describe the appearance
of certain disorders in which the fundi are characterized by widespread posterior
distribution of deep yellowish-white spots of various sizes and configurations.
The classic disease includes
fundus flavimaculatus, fundus albipunctatus, retinitis punctata albescens
and familial drusen. The diagnosis of FRD is made primarily by history taking,
ophthalmoscopy, and the specific type of disease is confirmed by special eye
investigations, especially electrophysiologic tests.
