Abstract One hundred and three patients receiving chioroquine phosphate orally for either rheumatologic or dermatologic diseases were examined. Keratopathy was found in twenty-nine patients (28.2%) varied from Hudson-Stahli line to cornea verticillata.

There were no correlations between keratopathy and age of the patients and cumulative dose of chloroquine, but some correlations existed between the occurence of corneal deposits and chloroquine retinopathy (p 0.02624). The incidence of keratopathy was significantly high in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (40.7%).
