Objective ; To
determine the visual outcome of central serous chorioretinopathy treated with
laser photocoagulation in Ramathibodi Hospital for 10 years. Methods ; Retrospective study of central serous chorioretinopathy treated with Argon
green or Krypton red laser in Ramathibodi Hospital during January 1980 to
July 1996. The review included demorgraphic data, signs and symptoms, duration
before treatment, detail of treatment and the result in both best corrected
visual acuity and recurrent rate in long time follow up. Results
; The
52 eyes of 51 patients were reviewed. The ratio of male-female was 4:1, mean
age 38.4 years, median of duration before treatment = 150 days, mean size
of lesion = 2.6 +- 1.23 DD. The treatment outcome showed that mean resolution
time = 21 days, recurrent rate was 7.7%, The patients that had VA ~ 20/40
in the last followed up time were 84.7% and the mean follow up time was 21.9
months. Conclusion
; The
demorgraphic data were not differ from the previous studies except the ratio
of sex that was less than 10:1. The recurrent rate was 7.7% and the
results also indicated that the visual prognosis was not related to the size,
duration of the disease, mode of treatment, number of the disease attack before
treatment or FFA finding.
