ABSTRACT : AIM : To propose a simple method of silicone intubation com-bined with external DCR in case of common canalicular obstruction.
Methods : In presac obstruction indicates a conjunctiva-DCR (CDCR). But in common canalicular obstruction indicates a typical DCR and common internal punctoplasty which require silicone stent tubing about 6 months. We describe a simple and effective technique for silicone intubation, using intravenous catheter which placing in canaliculus and insert silicone tubing through the intravenous catheter under visualization. This method has been employed successfully in 5 case.
Results : A patent DCR system to irrigation was achieved 4 in 5 of cases at an average of 8 months’ follow up.
Conclusion : This method of silicone intubation combined with external DCR is an effective procedure for common canalicular obstruction patient.
